The Bare Bones of Dinosaurs

What is the oldest dinosaur?

The oldest known dinosaur is the Eoraptor Lunensis. It was three feet long and had legs built for running long distances.

What was the smallest dinosaur?

One of the smallest dinosaurs at the museum is the Microraptor. It weighed about one pound and had feathers, similar to a bird.

How many teeth did a T. Rex have?

It's difficult to say how many teeth T-Rex had because meat-eating dinosaurs, like sharks, had a dental conveyor belt. When a tooth broke, another tooth came in its place. So, T-Rex could have gone through hundreds of teeth in its lifetime. However, at any one point in its life, T-Rex probably had about 50 teeth in its jaws.

When did dinosaurs first appear on the earth?

Dinosaurs first appeared during the late Triassic period, about 225 million years ago. After their appearance, they ruled the earth for 160 million years.

When did dinosaurs become extinct?

Dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period when a huge asteroid, many miles in diameter, crashed into the earth and completely altered the climate for many thousands of years.

Did all dinosaurs hatch eggs?

It's hard to say for sure that ALL dinosaurs laid eggs, because not every species of dinosaur has an egg attached to it. Even though we haven't found eggs for all the thousands of dinosaurs, we have found eggs for each dinosaur group. In other words, we haven't found a T-Rex egg, but we have found an egg from one of its relatives, which can give us a reasonable assumption that T-Rex laid eggs. So dinosaurs probably did hatch from eggs.
